The Problem...
Lexmark is a
$4 billion high tech company and the 2nd largest printer and toner
cartridge manufacturer in the world. Instead of designing their
products to be refilled, they add a killer chip. Like Lexmark’s
specious ‘Prebate’ that GRRN exposed in 1998, killer
chips are designed to prevent smaller ‘aftermarket’
companies from refilling the cartridges. Now Lexmark is suing one
of those third parties under a new copyright protection act.
