Beverage Shareholders Campaign

In Spring 2002 Pepsi and Coca-Cola shareholders were able to vote on resolutions to get both companies to use 25% recycled content in their plastic bottles and achieve 80% recovery rates for all beverage containers. The Coke meeting was in mid-April in NYC, the Pepsi meeting in early May.
2001 Campaign Success

Pepsi Shareholders Meeting 2002
A recycling resolution was on the PepsiCo proxy for the second year. The resolution asked PepsiCo to commit to achieving 80% container recovery rate nationwide (the level currently achieved in deposit states) as well as commit to using 25% recycled material in plastic bottles by 2005. The resolution received over 5% of the votes.

Coke Shareholders Meeting 2002
A recycling resolution was on the Coca-Cola Company proxy for the second year. The resolution asked Coke to research a plan to achieve an 80% container recovery rate nationwide (the level currently achieved in deposit states). The resolution received just under 5% of the votes.
